We are delighted to welcome Petra National Trust to INTO!

Petra National Trust (PNT) was established in 1989 as a Jordanian non-governmental organisation, which aims to promote and coordinate Jordanian and international efforts to preserve the unique combination of antiquities, natural environment and human traditions in the Petra region. PNT has worked to bring together people in Jordan and abroad who are committed to that same goal.

PNT is hoping to benefit from the INTO network, information and advocacy.  As a well-established body with a lot of its own experience, PNT is very happy to share lessons learned. Likewise to work collaboratively with other INTO members.  (A brief PowerPoint about their work can be found here.)

    Education Outreach and Awareness Programmes

One of PNT’s recent successes was an impact assessment of its Education Outreach and Awareness (EOA) programmes.   Commissioned by EUNIC – European Union National Institutes for Culture – the evaluation examined PNT projects targeting children and youth.   Indeed it identified PNT’s EOA programmes as the LARGEST and most sustainable civil society initiative in the Ma’an Governorate.

The study also noted that PNT’s project partners and donors believed the methodology and content was unique to Jordan and possibly the region. The evaluation also proposed the areas of intervention to ensure sustainability of PNT programmes.

The INTO family extends a warm welcome to Petra National Trust and we look forward to future collaborations!
