Accessibility aims to ensure that people can value, enjoy, visit and experience places. Accessibility should be looked at in its wider sense, rather than just focusing on the perceived needs of people with “disabilities”, a range of different needs should be considered. This guide, published by Heritage New Zealand, is to provide guidance to assist in the creation and improvement of physical access to heritage places, including heritage buildings, places, sites and landscapes.
