The ICNTs conference brought together close to 200 expert delegates in heritage from across the globe that converged to discuss, share experiences and partner in safeguarding global heritage. From the farthest of North America, to East central Africa, it was INTO’s first time in Africa, and Uganda in particular. The CCFU, Cross Cultural Foundation Uganda made Uganda proud by hosting it.
My participation in the youth session alerted me to take on more active roles as a custodian and author of our national global heritage. Addressing issues of culture in relation with the youth, granted me the atmosphere of being part of not only the conference, but to the entire world.
My achievement in the ICNT was remarkable. I managed to make new connections about heritage promotion. Exchanged experience from heritage experts, inspired me to widen my direction of perceiving heritage diversity.
The bond amongst delegates was so swift, that whoever witnessed never thought we had just met. It all seemed like we had been family for quite some time. The ambiance was filled with warmth.
Evelyne Ninsiima, has just joined the INTO volunteer team as a ‘reporter/researcher’. She is based in Uganda. Expect to see more from her soon.
