    Tesouros de Galicia
These holidays are run in conjunction with Tesouros de Galicia, a Spanish non-profit association with a vision to initiate a social movement to help the recovery of the heritage of Northwest Spain and its cultural identity. Galicia has a diverse landscape and a rich history with strong Celtic and Roman roots.
Bronze & Iron Age Archaeology by the beach

    The holiday:
Takes place at a unique archaeological site in Mougás on Galicia’s South coast, set in an idyllic landscape. It offers elements from two distinct periods in time: numerous rock engravings from the Bronze Age and a spectacular Iron Age settlement. Now in its third year, the aim of this community project is to clean, document and study the engravings and deepen understanding of maritime settlements and Iron Age commerce. Working with an English speaking archaeologist, you will learn about the local history and assist with excavation work, clearing vegetation and completing surveys of the site. There will also be the opportunity to explore local beaches and discover the rich history of this fascinating region.
Meeting point: You will be met at Santiago de Compostela airport on the first day of the holiday.
Accommodation: At a local hostel. There is one male and one female dorm, each sleeping 6-8 people. Full bedding and towel provided.

    Rediscovering Artefacts in beautiful Galicia

The holiday: Situated on Galicia’s Northern coast, this site has stunning views of one of the region’s largest beaches and its nearby hills. Castro de Mallou is an impressive Iron Age settlement known for its interesting construction and the remains of a foundry. You will be part of the 2014 programme which aims to prove the existence of a metal workshop and there will be a real-time communication campaign to facilitate local community engagement. With the guidance of an English speaking local expert, you’ll be involved with practical excavation work, site clearance or ground surveys. There will be the chance to participate in events with local residents and you will have time to visit places of interest in the area.
Meeting point: You will be met at Santiago de Compostela airport on the first day of the holiday.
Accommodation: Shared sleeping areas in a local municipal hall. Participants will need to bring a sleeping bag, pillow and mat.
