This holiday is run by the The Friends of Czech Heritage, a UK based charity which was set up six years ago to raise awareness of the substantial legacy of historic buildings and their contents, artefacts, gardens and parks in the Czech Republic.
    Restoration at Červený Dvůr
The holiday (age 20+): Situated in Southern Bohemia, Červený Dvůr is an estate which was once the summer residence of the Schwarzenburg family and is now a sanatorium. Participants will work on the restoration of an 18th century gardener’s cottage on the estate and help to recreate the formal gardens of the chateau. Tasks involve simple building work and some clearance work around landscape features in the grounds. No prior skills required. During the week there will be the opportunity to visit some of the region’s houses and castles.
Meeting point: Participants can be met at Linz airport off the afternoon Ryanair flight from Stansted or in Český Krumlov.
Accommodation: Full board and lodging in twin bedrooms in the stable wing of the chateau. Bedding and towel provided.
