  • Enjoy the Castle Lifestyle in Bissy-sur-Fley, Burgundy (France)

    Posted on March 14, 2015

The working holiday: This typical Burgundy castle overlooks the tiny village of Bissy-sur-Fley and has been a key feature of the local landscape since the twelfth century. Our local members work to restore it every summer and have plenty of energy to bring back to life this lovable place. Under the supervision of an expert in traditional coatings, participants will work at the restoration of an ancient stair case and at the castle’s chapel. No previous experience is necessary. In addition to this exciting challenge, there will also be time to visit the famous Cluny Abbey, the nearby city of Chalon-sur-Saône and experience the world famous Burgundy gastronomy. Many other activities are planned by the holiday leaders. Pick up at Chalon-sur-Saône train station upon request.
Accommodation: Small dormitories in the castle with hot showers and toilets. Mattresses are provided but you will need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow. Participants will share shopping, cooking and cleaning duties.

    Dates: 01/08/2015 – 16/08/2015

    Price: EUR220 (£164*)

*An approximate GBP £ price based on an exchange rate of 1.3448 on 27 Feb 2015.

This holiday is organised by Union REMPART, a union of 170 non-profit associations run mainly by volunteers. They offer numerous working holidays throughout France each year, and we are featuring two now. Please note that whilst some English is spoken on the holidays, a basic knowledge of French would be advantageous.
