    COP19 IN WARSAW November 11th through 22nd.
It was not possible for INTO representatives to attend COP19, but we are following events and extend our support to the many NGO delegates that are there. A good source of information regarding COP19 can be found at Tck Tck Tck

    Phillippines

We quote from their first newsletter:

The Philippines chief negotiator, Yeb Sano, opened the UN climate talks in Warsaw with an impassioned plea for urgent action, announcing a hunger strike in solidarity with victims of the Typhoon that devastated his country.
“In solidarity with my countrymen who are struggling to find food back home and with my brother who has not had food for the last three days, in all due respect Mr. President, and I mean no disrespect for your kind hospitality, I will now commence a voluntary fasting for the climate. This means I will voluntarily refrain from eating food during this COP until a meaningful outcome is in sight.”
His opening statement and moving personal appeal set the tone and underlined the goals for the coming two weeks of negotiations – concrete pledges to ensure mobilization of resources for the Green Climate Fund; the establishment of a loss and damage mechanism; assurance on finance for adaptation; concrete pathways for reaching the committed 100 billion dollars; and real ambition on stabilizing greenhouse gas concentrations. “We must put the money where our mouths are.”
