INTO is doing a marvelous job in bringing together and supporting the National Trusts of the world, at a time when our collective heritage is everywhere under threat.
At the Cross-Cultural Foundation of Uganda where I work (there is as yet no Uganda Trust), it has been a privilege to associate with the small group of volunteers who runs INTO and I look forward to spending the week with them on a sponsored walk along the Camino Ingles in Galicia (for more details, press here).
My colleague Emily and I are raising funds to research, produce and market a map of historical buildings in our city, Kampala – this is one way in which we hope to help safeguard the remnants of our built heritage.
We were inspired by the map of Harare produced by the Zimbabwe National Trusts (an African link created through INTO!) and we are trying to emulate them (see the photo).

The walk will be great fun, but really GRUELLING. So far my training programme has taken me to an upper limit of 10 kms per day, yet I must cover 120 kms in 5 days! So please help me to raise funds and save a little of historical Kampala in the process – my target is UKL 1500. Many thanks!
Perhaps the easiest for UK taxpayers is by sending a cheque to us at 20 Grosvenor Gardens, London, SW1W 0DH (please ask us for a gift aid form to increase the impact of your gift).
